Frequently asked questions

Common questions about Evenly, smart EV charging, and energy flexibility.

About the service

What is Evenly?

Evenly lets you earn money from your EV charger by helping keep the power grid stable. We adjust your charging schedule when the grid needs relief, without getting in the way of your day.

How does it work in practice?

Evenly connects to your charger through the app you already use (e.g. Easee). When the grid needs it, we pause or adjust your charging for short periods. You set your own departure time, and your car is always ready when you need it.

Will my car always be charged when I need it?

Yes. You set a departure time, and Evenly ensures your car is fully charged by then. You can also override with one tap if you need a full charge immediately.

Compatibility

Which chargers are supported?

Currently we support Easee chargers. We're working on adding more manufacturers.

Do I need to install a new app?

No. Evenly is activated directly in the app you already use for your charger.

Does it work with devices other than EV chargers?

For now, just EV chargers. More device types are coming.

Economy

How much can I earn?

The flexibility market is still young, but a realistic starting point is 50-150 NOK per month. This should grow as we develop the product and find more ways to use your charger's flexibility.

Does it cost anything to use Evenly?

No, it's free. You earn money, you pay nothing.

Will this affect my electricity bill?

No. We take grid tariff tiers and pricing models into account, so your electricity bill won't go up because of us.

What is the long-term benefit?

The 50-150 NOK per month is just the start. When enough people chip in flexibility, it reduces the need for expensive grid upgrades, which you as an end user pay for through grid tariffs. More participants means less pressure on the grid and lower costs for everyone.

Grid and technology

Why does the power grid need help?

More EVs, data centers, and renewable energy are putting pressure on the grid. Instead of building expensive new cables, we can use existing capacity smarter by having consumers be flexible.

Is this safe for my car and charger?

Yes. We use the charger manufacturer's own APIs, and only do the same thing as if you paused the charging yourself.

What is the flexibility market?

It's a market where grid operators can buy flexibility from consumers instead of upgrading infrastructure. Evenly handles all of this for you.
